Description
The 1st U.S. Infantry Regiment was established in 1784 as the First American Regiment, the first regular army unit organized after the revolution. It served with distinction in the Northwest Indian War. During the War of 1812, it served in Upper Canada, specifically at the Battle of Chippawa, where it stood toe-to-toe with British regulars.
