Our Benefactors [OB] #16606647
Description
the county de Aveiro ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬๑۩๑▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬During the wars with Castile, King D. João II of Portugal took for himself the lands formerly belonging to D. Pedro(Alcaidarias-mores of Assumar and in Alentejo). The latter, not accepting the usurpation, made multiple requests to the king to return the old lands to him, but, having no answer, one day he confronts the king during the act of the Eucharist, not allowing D. João II to take communion before to access your order. The king confirmed his strategic interest in the land, as it was located close to the border, but as compensation, he awarded the landlord of Mira and the rights to fish in the village of Aveiro to the dispossessed. The count settled in Aveiro in the year 1500, and the son of D. Pedro, D. Gonçalo de tavar , was the first Lord of aveiro. The Lordship of aveiro remained until the extinction of the manorial regime in 1833.
