Description
Obentraut's Regiment of Horse was raised in 1619 when he entered Kurpfalz service. Obentraut was not wealthy and did not find it easy to recruit. However, he was able to recruit 300 men in the Pfalz region for his regiment. By 1621 he had entered the service of von Mansfeld and would reinforce his regiment from recruitment in the Lower Pfalz. After this, his regiment numbered 900 to 1000 men in 10 troops. It is not known what the regiment did in 1623 and 1624. The regiment would join Danish service in 1625 where it numbered 700 men. Obentraut would fall in battle that same year and his regiment was likely disbanded afterwards.
