Is it obsolete? Most certainly not, it keeps the Institute running and connects it with the rest of the anomalous and paranormal world, it ensures that the technology that Institute works with, well, works and also that it's bureaucratic needs - ranging from advising the Facility Director and Principal to handling the very specific area based regulations, also known as Codex, the Institute utilizes to regulate departmental affairs.
