Description

Established in 1522 by King Gustaf Vasa, considered the father of modern sweden, the Swedish fleet is one of the oldest active navies in history, and has a long and proud history. However, with Sweden having lost most of its land and naval prowess in the Great Northern War aswell as the unsucessful 1741 Russian War, the Swedish fleet has been reorganised and rebuilt in an attempt to regain its prowess. In 1805, Sweden joined the Napoleonic Wars on the coalition side, and saw naval action against the Danes, Russians, Norwegians, and even the English at one point. The fleet held its ground in a surprising manner to the enemy fleets, winning major engagements at Grönvikssund, Rimito-Kramp, Jungfrusund, Gotland, Strömstad and Hvaler. Although the navy does not bear the same glory as it once had, it still stood as a proud and great fleet that could withstand enemies from all directions.
