Description
Raised in 1749 as Spenska Regementet in the Pommeranian and Wismarian provinces of Sweden, the regiment was an infantry regiment consisting of mostly ethnic Germans. It took part in the 1756 Pommeranian war, Gustaf IIIs Russian war, and the 1807 French invasion of Pommerania where it fought at Denim, Stralsund, and minor skirmishes in the 3rd coalition war. In 1815 after the Prussian annexation of Pommerania it became a Prussian regiment.
