In an effort to escape the threat of war, the family migrated to America shortly after the first World War. After settling in Chicago, the family began to take up different rackets. Ranging from protection rackets, to extortion and casinos, the Verratti Family would do anything that made them richer. In just several years, the Verratti Family became one of the most prolific crime families in Chicago.
