Description
The Irish National Army was the armed forces unit for the Irish Free State. It was the fighting force of the Newly Established Irish Free State. The Army only saw conflict inside of Ireland, and that was during the Irish Civil War, when the Anti - Treaty Forces, or more commonly known as the IRA, refused to accept the peace treaty which meant the newly formed Irish Free State had to pledge an oath to the King of the British Empire. The war was fought for 11 months, killing thousands of soldiers and civilians alike.
