𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐔𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬✪▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The Army of the Cumberland was a Union Army during the American Civil War. It was established in 1862 and mainly made up of soldiers from Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Several significant Union successes on the western front, notably the Battle of Stones River and the Battle of Chickamauga, were made possible in large part by the Army of the Cumberland. Prior to Major General George Thomas taking over in 1863, it was commanded by Major General William S. Rosecrans. Thomas was known as "The Rock of Chickamauga" for his defense at the Battle of Chickamauga.
