With roots going all the way back to the English Army that was raised in the 1660s, the British Army has a long and rich history. The primary role of the British Army is to defend the interests of the United Kingdom and its overseas territories, as well as to promote stability and security globally. The British Army is organized into a number of different regiments and corps, each with its own distinct history, traditions, and capabilities. Some of the most well-known regiments include the Parachute Regiment, the Grenadier Guards, and the Royal Irish Regiment.
