c. 1944 Invasion of Normandy 6./FJR, 2./FJD Currently consisting of the first battalion's first rifle company Consisting of 3,457 officers and men, members of the 6./FJR were of a higher quality compared with many of the other more standard units at this time. At least a third of the officers and a good portion of the non-commissioned officers were veterans, having fought in Crete, North Africa and Russia
