Description
Twenty-two women gathered at Howard University in Washington, D.C., on January 13, 1913, to form the sorority that would become known as Delta Sigma Theta. The five points of Delta Sigma Theta, which focus on economic development, educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and philanthropic awareness and engagement, guide all of the organization's community service, social, and philanthropic projects. A group of college-educated women committed to public service and its members' positive development, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. primarily serves the black community.
