Legio I Alaudae #17043961
Description
𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨 𝐈 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐞 Legio I Alaudae was a legion of the Roman Military which was raised in Rome in 402 BC by Marcus Furius Camillus. The legion took part in Camillus' war with the Veii during the 390s BC, during which it suffered heavy losses, made up for by Camillus' recruitment of mercenary soldiers and by their unlikely victories. After the Fall of Veii in 397 BC and the Volscian declaration of war in 396 BC, the legion was redeployed to Rome, and it defeated an invading Volsci army at the Battle of Mons Aries, saving Rome. The legion then invaded the Volsci people's lands and defeated them several more times. 𝐘𝐙𝐀
