A Guarda Real Imperial constitui a mais prestigiosa e leal força militar de elite do Império Português, responsável diretamente pela proteção da Corte Imperial, da Família Imperial e da pessoa do Soberano. Criada oficialmente no início do século XIX, no contexto das reformas militares que acompanharam a transferência da Corte para o Brasil (1808) e consolidada após a restauração da autoridade imperial em Lisboa, a Guarda tornou-se símbolo máximo da fidelidade ao Trono e à Pátria.
