Description
The 5th Guard Grenadiers (German: Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 5) was a regiment of the Prussian Army prior to and during the First World War. Established in 1897. The uniform of the Garde-Grenadiers consisted of a blue tunic with a red collar and Brandenburg lapels of the same color with dark blue sleeve flaps, but had a wide yellow camel yarn of old Prussian braid on the collar and three of the same braid on the sleeve flaps. There were also white epaulettes , tombac buttons, white leather gear and white (guard) helmet plumes. Unlike the other guard regiments, there was no fusilier battalion.
