Description
The Grindlay family is among the oldest landed families in Great Britain. Founded in 850 AD by Hereweald and Æðel of Grēneleāh, it has endured for 1,176 years. Today, it maintains two primary branches: one in the English Midlands and the other in the former Scottish Marches, together with smaller presences in Ireland, North America, Australasia, and South Africa. Historically, the family established itself among the landed lords, knights, and gentry of the realm.
