Description
Official State Police Group For OSRPC! The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) was founded in 1933 under Colonel Lynn Black. Initially using black cars with the Flying Wheel emblem, they switched to white cruisers in 1966, then sterling silver in 1982. Dark grey vehicles were introduced in 1992 with yellow stripes for visibility during harsh Northern Ohio winters. In 2002, they returned to white cruisers with larger lightbars after fatal accidents involving troopers. Today, marked cruisers are again silver with an all-blue lighting system and two red grille lights. OSHP uses vehicles like Dodge Chargers, Ford Explorers, and Chevy Tahoe's. The agency is CALEA-accredited and pioneered the first statewide police radio.
