Description
The Panzerbataillon 203 is part of the tank fleet, meaning it is in the fighting force of the Heer. It is put under control of the 1. Panzerdivision, one of the two Bundeswehr tank divisions. The battalion is mainly equipped with Leopard 2 Battle Tanks and is tasked with countering enemy armor formations. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ The battalion was established 1956, originally as Panzergrenadierbataillon 13 in the german state of Schleswig-Holstein. By 1957 it was restationed in the state of Westfahlen and after multiple renaming and reclassification to a tank battalion it stayed in Westfahlen where it stays stationed until today. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ The battalion consists of four companies and has about 600 active personnel.
