Red Pine Correctional Institution #176954634
Description
Red Pine Correctional Institution (RPCI) Location: Red Pine Township, Ashwood County, Northwestern Wisconsin (fictional) Security Level: Medium Security Operating Agency: Wisconsin Department of Corrections Opened: 1956 Setting: Early 2000s (around 2002–2004) Overview Hidden among the pine forests and glacial hills of northwestern Wisconsin, Red Pine Correctional Institution has housed thousands of inmates since opening in 1956. Originally built to relieve overcrowding in Wisconsin's older prisons, the institution has expanded several times while retaining much of its original brick architecture. By the early 2000s, RPCI is showing its age. Paint is faded, the concrete walls are stained by decades of Wisconsin winters, and many buildings still have their original steel doors and barred windows. Although modern security systems have been added over the years, the prison still feels like a facility from another era.
