Description
The main mission of 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam was to act as the division’s air cavalry reconnaissance and security force. Their primary job was to fly ahead of or around friendly ground forces, search terrain for enemy units, and identify threats before infantry or convoys moved into the area. They were essentially the “eyes in the sky” for the battlefield, using helicopters to rapidly cover large areas of jungle and locate hidden enemy positions, trails, or base camps.
