Description
The 85th Regiment of Foot is considered one of the first light infantry formations within the British Army, so much so they were called the "Regiment of Light Infantry". They were raised in Shrewsbury and were deployed to the expedition against Belle-Isle and served in extraordinary distinction in Portugal with even the extent of a 200 strong detachment taking out an entire depot themselves while capturing 6 artillery guns and 70 mules.
