𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐮𝐱𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐬 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐳 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐬 The Natchez Mustangs were organized in December 1835 in the region of Natchez as a mounted volunteer company composed of American citizens who entered service during the Texas Revolution. Drawn from a riverine and frontier community with strong militia traditions, the unit was characterized by its mounted capability, providing mobility suited for scouting, screening, and rapid movement across the Texas landscape. Like many auxiliary formations, the Mustangs traveled independently to Texas and were incorporated into the Texian army under the authority of the Provisional Government, retaining their local identity and leadership. 1835-1836
