Description
Formed on November 13th of 1806 as an infantry regiment consisting of Prussians who deserted from the Prussian army. The regiment was created during the rapid reorganisation of French auxiliary forces following the collapse of Prussia, drawing in men who sought better prospects under French command. The 1st battalion was assigned to the 3rd Coastal Observation Division of Marshal Monceys corps in Spain taking part in the suppression of the revolt in Madrid and the offensive at Valencia. The 2nd and 3rd battalions were stationed at Flushing in the Netherlands however the two battalions were captured during the British Walcheren Campaign. The 2nd battalion was refreshed with the regiments depot and new recruits, allowing the regiment to continue limited service though it never regained its original strength and was eventually absorbed into other French led foreign formations.
