The Senate and People of Rome (SPQR) embody the civil authority of the Roman Republic within Aristocracy of Rome. This institution governs law, public order, and political life, determining how power, wealth, and status are exercised throughout the Republic. Authority is vested in office and law, not in individuals, and all decisions carry enduring consequences. Membership reflects active participation in Rome’s civic sphere. Citizens, magistrates, and officials act within the framework of Roman law to shape policy, uphold order, and preserve the stability of the state.
