Description
The Roman Empire was a vast civilization that transitioned from Republic to Empire under Augustus (27 BC), peaked under Emperor Trajan (c. 117 AD) controlling huge territories, then split into West (falling 476 AD) and East (Byzantine, falling 1453 AD), leaving lasting legacies in law, language, and engineering, despite internal strife and external pressures that led to its fragmentation and decline.
