Description

In early 1698, Charles II, King of Spain would declare in his will that Joseph Ferdinand of Bavaria, the Electoral Prince, would be the heir to the vast Spanish Empire alongside all of its lands and its wealth with approval from the State Council and the Pope. This caused displeasure amongst two other European powers, including the Austrian Habsburgs and the French Bourbons. With this newfound tension, Max Emanuel of Bavaria sent for his son to come to Brussels with the intention that the States of Flanders would swear an oath on the death of Charles II. Though many of the Maritime Powers would agree with one another that the titles of the Spanish Empire would be split upon the death of Charles II. The Spanish, unwilling to allow their Empire to split, dictated in a new will that Joseph Ferdinand would be the undisputed heir to all of the Spanish realms, undivided. Whilst in real life, Joseph Ferdinand would pass away in 1699, what would happen if he was to survive?
