Description
Ocean State Fire & Rescue was formally established in 1976 in response to a growing demand for specialized, contract-based fire protection and rescue services across the State of Mayflower. Unlike municipal fire departments, which are government-funded, Ocean State Fire & Rescue was created as a private fire protection corporation, built to provide rapid, professional, and scalable emergency services to communities, industrial facilities, and private jurisdictions in need. Before its founding, many neighborhoods, gated communities, and industrial zones within Mayflower relied on scattered volunteer companies or outsourced emergency response from distant municipal agencies. This often led to delayed response times and inconsistent service. Recognizing this gap, a coalition of former municipal firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and civic leaders formed Ocean State Fire & Rescue as a private-sector alternative.
