A group for everyone to show their admiration for the RMS Titanic. Some Titanic Fun Facts: -It was 882 1/2 feet long (269 meters), equivalent to an 11 story-building and it was 92 1/2 feet wide (28 meters) . It weighed 53,800 tons. (107.6M Ibs/48.8M Kg). -Its top speed was 24 knots (28 miles). -It's maiden voyage started in April 10, 1912, captained by E.J. Smith. It struck the iceberg at April 14, 1912 at 11:39 PM. The tragedy was officially declared finished at April 15, 1912 at 2:20 AM. This is a total of 2 hours and 41 minutes. The survivors were picked up by the Carpathia. -The 2 other sisters of the Titanic were the RMS Olympic, scraped in 1935 and the HMHS Britannic (initially called Gigantic), which sank when it hit a mine while serving as a hospital ship during WWI. -The Titanic was discovered by Robert Ballard on Sept. 1, 1985. Despite the average cruise ship today being almost twice the size, the Titanic still is one of the most marvelous ships that ever sailed.
