Colonel Henry Ireton’s Regiment of Horse Formed from Sir Michael Livesey’s Regiment of Horse; and whilst this regiment was one of the few formed from the southern forces under Waller, Henry Ireton himself had raised his own troop and served in Thornhaugh's Horse and later Cromwell's Ironsides as a Captain in which he began his close relation to the man - sharing similar religious and political ideals; conveniently they were both extremely critical of Earl M. Ireton would earn himself promotion to Commissary General on the day of the Battle of Naseby on Cromwell's recommendation for a raid on Royalist quarters, and command the left wing during the engagement. Ireton and his horse continued their service following the fall of Oxford the final days of the 1st Civil War, and was selected by lot for service in Ireland - which is where the tragic death of Ireton would occur, accredited to plague.
