NSRT | Naval Special Warfare Development Group #244567607
Description
DEVGRU (Naval Special Warfare Development Group) also widely known as SEAL Team Six or ST6 is the United States Navy's premier Tier 1 special mission unit. It operates under the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and is widely regarded as one of the most elite and secretive counterterrorism forces in the world. History DEVGRU was established in 1980 by Commander Richard Marcinko as SEAL Team Six following the failed Operation Eagle Claw during the Iran hostage crisis. The original name "Six" was chosen partly as a deliberate piece of misdirection to confuse foreign intelligence about the actual number of SEAL teams. In 1987 the unit was officially reorganized and renamed Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU) shifting its public focus toward developing tactics equipment and technology for Naval Special Warfare while its real mission remained counterterrorism and high-value operations.
