Description

After a major on site fire broke out at the Thunder Ridge Emergency Command Facility in early 2003, the need for a dedicated fire rescue apparatus was becoming more apparent, as local assets had no jurisdiction on federal property, and mutual aid contracts had yet to be drafted for the facility. Created under the Bureau of National Security's Federal Emergency Response Agency, the department is responsible for all fire and rescue operations on the Federal Emergency Response Agency's property and operational assets. Though typically limited to federal property, these fire rescue personnel are responsible for mutual aid with exterior local agencies in the event of a major emergency arising.
