Description
Established: 1941 Motto: “All my kingdoms, united, Hail Kanye” Founded in 1941, the Republic of Kanye West emerged from the ashes of a brutal civil war, following a split from the fledgling Kingdom of Kanye. The Kingdom, which had gained independence from British colonial rule in 1939 after the fierce Bush War, quickly descended into instability. In the Ngwaketse-led capital of Kanye, King Bathoen II established a centralized, authoritarian monarchy with minimal input from civil leaders and regional chieftains. Discontent simmered across the western provinces. By late 1940, a diverse coalition of Democrats, Anti-Monarchists, and Separatists united against the crown’s rule. This alliance launched a full-scale rebellion, resulting in a devastating civil war that claimed over 8,000 lives. In 1941, the conflict ended with King Bathoen II formally recognizing the breakaway region as a separate autonomous state. Thus, the Republic of Kanye West was born, with Goanwe Matante elected.
