Description
𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 is one of the nine Holds of Skyrim, located along the eastern border. Eastmarch was among the first regions of Skyrim settled by the Nords when they arrived from Atmora. Its capital, Windhelm, is the oldest continuously inhabited human settlement in Tamriel. It was formerly the seat of power for the First Empire of the Nords, which began with Ysgramor and continued through his line. 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡, along with The Rift, Winterhold, and The Pale are known collectively as Old Holds. 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 covers much of Skyrim's eastern border with Morrowind. Much of the central and southern regions are volcanically active, with steaming gas leaking in between cracks in the ground, colorful, mineral filled bodies of water, and geysers. The far west of the hold resembles much of the rest of central Skyrim, and to the north an alpine tundra, where the hold's capital Windhelm lies.
