Description
The Odrysian Rhomphaioforoi were Thracian warriors known for their use of the rhomphaia, a type of shield. They served as allies and mercenaries for the ancient Greeks and Romans, but the Romans never adopted this weapon themselves. The Rhomphaioforoi were not elite troops among the Thracians, indicating a more general role in warfare.
