---A New Beginning is Here--- [Dead Mist Faction] The title North West Mounted Police has changed twice since the organization's formation in 1873; in 1904, it became the Royal North West Mounted Police, and in 1920, it became the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The precise circumstances under which the bison head was chosen are unknown, but the choice seems appropriate because of the close association of the RCMP with the prairie grasslands.
