Description
New South Wales Government Railways ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The Department of Railways New South Wales, commonly known as the New South Wales Government Railways (NSWGR) was established under the Ministry of Transport in 1932 to operate and maintain railways in the State of New South Wales. The Department of Railways operated from 1932 until its demise in 1972 when it was replaced by the Public Transport Commission. The department oversaw great changes in New South Wales from the eventual electrification of the surban rail network, diselisation and demise of the once great Steam locomotives. These times will always be remembered from the old abandoned Blayney branch to the rustic relics of Eveleigh workshops standing proud and dormant after it has finished its duty.
