Description

Originally, CONEFO (Conference of the New Emerging Forces) was an initiative launched by President Sukarno of Indonesia in the mid-1960s as an alternative to Western-dominated international institutions, especially the United Nations, which Sukarno viewed as biased toward the “Old Established Forces” (imperialist and capitalist powers). Today, CONEFO has been redefined as a political, security, and reconstruction alliance designed for newly emerging, rebuilding, or transitioning states that deliberately choose strategic neutrality and non-alignment in a multipolar world. CONEFO seeks to not establish power-bloc based alliances, but a collective resilience framework: states band together not to project dominance, but to survive, stabilize, and recover without falling under external tutelage, as described in Sukarno's speech titled "To Build the World Anew".
