For thousands of years, the Red Kings were the North's greatest nemesis, conquering and burning Winterfell numerous times throughout written history. The Boltons even went as far as to flay several Stark kings and wore their skins as cloaks... For flaying has been Bolton's legacy since the Age of Heros, earning their sigil and words.
