The Federal Military Police #2936454
Description
While today's American Military Police was formed in 1941, they can trace their roots all the way to the Provost Corps, called the Marechaussee by George Washington, during the Revolution. The Military Police is headed by the Provost Marshal General, who has full control of the unit. The Military Police is widely use to maintain order within the Union Army itself, but they are also used to garrison occupied territories in the event of war. They were called the Veterans Reserve Corps during the Civil War.
