Description
Tesla Motors was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers in Silicon Valley. With instant torque, incredible power, and zero emissions, Tesla’s products would be cars without compromise. Tesla’s engineers first designed a powertrain for the Tesla Roadster, built around an AC induction motor. The Roadster was released in 2008. Accelerating from 0-60 mph in 3.7sec with a range of 245 miles per charge, the Roadster set a new standard for electric mobility. In 2012, Tesla launched the Model S, the first premium electric car, which could achieve 0 to 60 in about 5 seconds. In late 2015, Tesla launched the Model X, a crossover with outstanding speed and power, falcon wing doors, and the ability to hold many people and cargo. Tesla’s vehicles are produced at its factory in Fremont, California. The factory has returned many jobs to the area and can produce 1000 cars a week. Tesla is not just an automaker, but also a technology and design company with a focus on energy innovation.
