Description

The 8th/12th Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, is a field artillery regiment of the Australian Army that provides fire support to the 1st Brigade. Formed in 1973 through the amalgamation of the 8th Medium Regiment and the 12th Field Regiment, the regiment has a proud history of service and operational readiness. Based at Robertson Barracks in Darwin, it operates modern artillery systems, including the M777 lightweight howitzer, and supports combat, reconnaissance, and joint operations. The regiment's role is to deliver accurate and effective firepower, coordinate joint fires, and enhance the Army's ability to conduct land operations. Its personnel are highly trained and contribute to national defence, regional security, and military exercises both in Australia and overseas.
