Description
From 1536 to 1814, Denmark-Norway was a dual monarchy uniting the kingdoms of Denmark and Norway under a single crown. It encompassed Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Greenland, and parts of northern Germany. Copenhagen served as the capital, and the union ended following the Napoleonic Wars, with Norway ceded to Sweden. Denmark Norway was one of the economic power houses of the Napoleonic Wars. With their superior navy they upheld an army neutrality, securing enourmous wealth by trading with both the French and the coalition. Denmark relied on it's navy, to import wood from Norway, and to export food to the people of Norway. After the sinking of the Spanish-French fleet at Trafalger. Denmark suddenly found itself in a position with the 2nd biggest navy, only surpassed by Britain. The Armed Neutrality would later lead to a unprovoked terror attack on Copenhagen, leading to Denmark Norway entering the war on French Side.
