Surgery is a painting; we are the artists; and our scalpels are the paintbrushes. ----------------------------------------- If you are asked to join. you will be an Intern. Interns learn from Residents. After a month the Interns will take an exam. If they pass the exam, they become a first year resident. If they fail, they stay as an Intern for another month. ----------------------------------------- Residents teach interns what they have been taught in their intern month and from the second month, third month, and fourth month residents. As well as the attendings. Every month you will become a month higher resident. You will be asked to become an attending if you show the qualities to be one in your fourth year. If not... you will go into the Resident category and stay there. ----------------------------------------- Attendings teach Residents. These are the people who are the cream of the crop. You WANT to be an Attending. These people pick the Residents who stay and who go.
