Alastor was the personified spirit (daimon) of the family blood feud--the inflicting of vengeance upon younger generations for the crimes of their forefathers. Alastor was also an epithet of the Greek god Zeus, according to Hesychius of Alexandria and the ############ Magnum, which described him as the avenger of evil deeds, specifically familial bloodshed.
