Description
The Barbarossa Brothers were feared pirates during the sixteenth century. The brothers born in Greece, Aruj and Hizir Barbarossa began their pirate career by attacking Aegean ships on the Mediterranean Sea. Aruj was the older brother and lost his arm in a battle against many ships. Hizir became a great naval commander and became fluent in six different languages. He worked for Sultan Suleiman and was appointed admiral-in-chief. Enemy of the Spanish Christian rule, the brothers plundered and stole whatever they wanted.
