Pickering Fire Rescue #315256669
Description
In January 1849, the town of Pickering was officially recognized with the establishment of the local post office, with a population of merely 220 full-time residents. In the following years, the Delaware Bay oyster industry boomed, and in 1887, the state of Delaware incorporated the town, and, in doing so, established a volunteer fire company. In 2005, the company rebranded as Pickering Fire Rescue. With this change, the department introduced paid staffing for emergency medical services providers and establishes one of the region's first live-in programs, providing 24/7/365 presence and significantly increased emergency response times. These changes marked the birth of the present-day department, renowned as one of the most efficient, professional volunteer agencies in the Delaware Bay region. Not affiliated with any real-life emergency services agency.
