During the Revolutionary War, the 1st Regiment fought in battles and pushed the Americans back, known battles they have fought in included the Long Island Campaign, battles of Fort Washington, Philadelphia, Brandywine, Monmouth Court House, and Charleston, during 1812 they were stationed at London, Portsmouth, and later in the Iberian Peninsula, though it did not directly fight in the war of 1812, instead it actively fought in Peninsula War Starting Rank - 1st Regiment Cadet
