Join this group if you have Tourette Syndrome, know somebody with Tourette Syndrome, or if you would just like to know about it. Emotional support is always welcome in the comments, and we are always willing to help those who need it. Tourette Syndrome is a relatively common disorder affecting 1% of individuals that is generally diagnosed during childhood. People with this will have involuntary movements or sounds called "tics." This is a neurological condition that occurs either through genetics or poor environmental conditions. Those with Tourette's can limit their symptoms through medical treatments or therapy, and can sometimes disappear completely once the person becomes an adult. While this is not a dangerous disorder, it can limit the person's ability to function in social situations, or inhibit the person's motor skils.
