18. Infantеriregiment #32364308
Description
𝟏𝟖. 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Founded in 1785 as the Zealand Sharpshooter Corps, this regiment came to serve as standard infantry in the year 1860, in which it was turned into infantry of the line. The Regiment was given special permission to keep it's kepi, this is the only regiment in the danish army to be permitted to do so, it was probably because of it's sharpshooter background. The regiment was brigaded alongside the 3rd Regiment of Foot inside of the 2nd Brigade. It formed the reserve on the bridgehead to Als when the battle of Dybbøl occurred. It defended the bridgehead from an attempted Prussian incursion, seemingly successfully. Men in this regiment were most likely from Schleswig, albeit it is possible it contained men from Zealand given it's historical founding in the region. It was under the command of a Major. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Oberst: N/A Founded: 5/7/2023 Status: Recruiting and Mobilizing
