Description
𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚̄𝐭𝐮𝐬 𝐑𝐨̄𝐦𝐚̄𝐧𝐮𝐬 The Roman Senate was a powerful governing body composed of about 300 members who were mostly aristocrats from wealthy families. Its main functions included advising the magistrates, discussing and approving laws, and managing the finances of the state. Senators were appointed for life by the consuls, and membership was initially restricted to patricians but later opened up to plebeians as well.
